Choosing a machine

How do I know which laser power I need for marking?

Power decides depth, not quality. Every fiber marker in the range runs at 1064 nm with the same ≤ 7000 mm/s scan speed and ≤ 0.01 mm repeat accuracy, so a 20 W and a 100 W unit produce an equally clean mark — the higher power just removes more material per pass.

As a rule: 20–30 W for hallmarks, karat stamps, batch codes and QR codes; 50–70 W when you need visible depth on rings, tags and findings without multiple passes; 100 W when you also want to cut thin sheet or blanks.

What is the difference between the Mini 7 and Mini 10 welders?

The laser source, cooling and power options are the same across both families — 60, 100, 150 and 200 W YAG with air and water cooling. The difference is the operator interface and footprint: Mini 7 has a 7-inch touch-screen in a 54×29×29 cm body, Mini 10 has a 10.8-inch screen in a 57×29×29 cm body.

Choose Mini 10 if operators work long sessions and programme changes are frequent. Choose Mini 7 if bench depth is tight.

Which chain machine matches my wire?

Wire diameter is the first filter, and machines do not overlap as much as people expect. Fine work sits with EST-CRC (0.11–0.35 mm) and EST-SPIGA (0.11–0.55 mm); mid range with EST-C-RCM rope (0.25–0.8 mm) and EST-SNC snake (0.2–1.5 mm); heavy link with EST-C-RLM rolo (1.2–5.5 mm) and EST-C-U450 (1.8–5.0 mm).

If your production spans both ends of that range, it is two machines, not one.

Do I need an enclosed marker or is an open desktop unit enough?

The EST-FEP series is an enclosed cabinet — the working area is contained, which matters for operator safety in shared workshops and for consistent extraction. The EST-FP series is an open-frame desktop galvo with a 110×110 or 150×150 mm field, which is easier to load odd-shaped and oversized work onto but needs its own safety arrangements.

When does a job need a floor-standing welder instead of a bench unit?

At sustained production duty. The bench units up to 200 W use air and water cooling and run on a standard 110 V or 220 V supply. The EST-JWP200 is floor-standing with a dedicated water chiller and a 5 kW draw at 1–25 Hz — that is a machine for continuous production welding, not for an occasional repair bench.

What accuracy can I expect from the marking systems?

Repeat accuracy is ≤ 0.01 mm across the EST-FEP and EST-FP series, and ≤ 0.001 mm on the 2 W EST-F1 fiber unit, which is why the F1 is used for very fine detail on small pieces within its 70×70 mm field.

Which metals can these machines mark and weld?

The fiber marking systems work on gold, silver, stainless steel, brass and platinum. The 10 W diode version of the EST-F1 is intended for wood, leather and other light materials rather than precious metal.

YAG welders handle the same precious metals and stainless; the practical limit is the section thickness you are joining, which is what power selection addresses.

What is the difference between YAG and QCW fiber chain welding sources?

YAG sources (80 W and 150 W, 1064 nm) deliver up to 40 J per pulse at 1–100 Hz with built-in cooling, drawing 4 kW and 8 kW respectively. QCW fiber sources (100 W, 150 W, 300 W at 1080 nm) deliver 10–30 J over a 0.2–50 ms pulse, are air cooled, and draw only 400 W to 1.2 kW.

QCW gives lower heat input and less distortion on fine links and much lower power consumption; YAG gives higher single-pulse energy for heavier joints.

What software do the marking machines use?

EzCad and LightBurn on the EST-FEP series. The EST-FP desktop galvo units are driven from either PC or mobile software. Both accept the usual vector and raster sources for logos, text, serial numbers and codes.

Can chains be diamond-cut after forming?

Yes — the EST-C-FCM faceting machine adds diamond-cut facets to finished chain up to 1.2 mm wire. It is a separate 550 kg machine running on 220 V, 50 Hz, placed after forming and welding in the line.

Which box chain machine should I choose?

EST-C-BX1 uses solder powder and covers 0.6–1.0 mm wire at 83 kg. EST-C-BX2 has integrated laser welding and covers 1.2–3.0 mm at 176 kg. Heavier box link needs the welded joint, which is why BX2 exists — it is not simply a larger BX1.

Installation & site requirements

What power supply do the machines need?

Bench marking systems run on 110–220 V, 50/60 Hz at around 4 A. Bench welders accept AC 220 V ±5% 50 Hz or AC 110 V ±5% 60 Hz. All chain making machines are 220–240 V, 50/60 Hz. Chain welding sources are AC 220 V ±10%, with consumption ranging from 400 W on the QCW-100W to 8 kW on the YAG-150W.

Confirm your site supply before ordering — this is the most common cause of delay at commissioning.

How much floor space and load capacity do chain machines need?

Chain machines are heavy and the range is wide. EST-C-BX1 is 83 kg; EST-C-RCM is 170 kg; EST-C-BOC is 285 kg; EST-C-U450 is 395 kg; EST-C-HMM, which delivers 15 tons of pressure, is 610 kg. Heights run to roughly 1.7 m. Check both the floor loading and the door clearance on the route in.

Do the welders need a water chiller?

Bench units up to 200 W use combined air and water cooling and do not need a separate chiller. The EST-JWP200 does require a water chiller. QCW fiber chain welding sources are air cooled; YAG chain welding sources have built-in cooling.

What options are worth specifying at order time?

On welders: integrated camera, programmable memory presets, intelligent voice alarm, and on the JW80 a Heraeus xenon lamp or Motic microscope. On the EST-JWP200: ceramic condenser, argon gas supply, microscope and display. On markers: rotary attachment and fixtures, which are far easier to fit at order than to retrofit.

How do I get a quotation?

Send the production brief rather than a model number: the chain style or marking job, the metal, the wire diameter, your target output per shift and your site voltage. We shortlist the models that genuinely cover it and quote against those.

Can you tell me if a machine is wrong for my work?

Yes, and we will. If your wire diameter falls outside a machine's published range, or your output target is better met by a second unit than a larger one, that is what we will say. The specifications on every model page are there so you can check it yourself as well.

What support is available after delivery?

Commissioning guidance, parameter setup for your specific metal, wire and chain style, software walkthrough for operators, and sourcing for lamps, optics, nozzles, chillers and wear parts.

Do you supply outside your local market?

Yes — the equipment is supplied to manufacturers, repair shops and studios internationally. Voltage, frequency and shipping arrangements are confirmed per order, which is why site supply details are asked for at quotation stage.
